OF LOW-VOLTAGE TRANSFORMERS
 Low-Voltage
Transformers
are increasingly used in this growing society
of special low-voltage lighting and various low-voltage situations having to
do with computers, electronics, LED lights, etc. The prospects are good that
this will expand even more as new products are developed to meet the growing
needs of energy conservation and low-voltage electronics and electrical
devices.
Low-Voltage Transformers
are often a form of
Buck Boost Transformer or
Auto Transformer and therefore are
light and responsive to their application without being unduly expensive.
Low-Voltage Transformers are usually produced with multiple-tap
arrangements to make it easier to apply them to any need.
If what you are looking for is
a convenient, economical, easily installed and relatively safe electrical
service for specialized accent lighting of garden areas, pools, fountains,
architectural areas, security areas, driveways and steps; or perhaps you
have LED lighting (one of the newest things in homes), microprocessor
applications, or one of the newer applications of low voltages, one or more
Low-Voltage Transformers will no doubt be part of your installation.
Low-Voltage Transformers
are commonly designed to handle a variety of voltages from 12 volts through
16, 24, 32 and 48 volts, but can be special-ordered for any other voltage,
as-needed.
When planning, you need to
include enough capacity to carry at least the sum of all existing devices
plus at least 10% to 25%, and you can include more capacity if you are planning on
adding more to the circuit in the near future. Longer wire runs and smaller
diameter wires reduce useful wattages due to losses to resistance, so an
additional amount can be added to compensate. Do not include too much
unused Low-Voltage Transformer voltage for this, however, as a supply
vastly larger than what is needed can cause undue stress on existing
lighting or devices.
